Lighting

Our sound and lighting courses can be found here!
In this week’s video we have a look at the new amaran Ray 60c and 120c lights. These tiny LEDs are just as bright and color-accurate as their bigger siblings, the Ray 360 and 660c, and can be even more versatile thanks to their small sizes. In this review, we test the 60c and 120c’s omni-color engine, compare photometrics to the other lights in the Ray lineup, check fan noise, output, build quality, and real-world usability for creators and small studio operations. We also cover SSI results, Bowens-mount compatibility, IP54 weather resistance, Bluetooth + NFC control via the Amaran app, and how these fixtures might perform best in various video lighting situations.
The Ray 60 and 120c lands in that perfect middle ground of power, color fidelity, and price for those of use working professionally, but in the small budget world — corporate video.
If you’d like to learn how to make great dialogue audio for your film and video projects, please have a look at my courses including processing dialogue audio in Adobe Audition and DaVinci Resolve/Fairlight, recording sound, how to use the Zoom F4, F6, F8, and F8n, and how to get the most from the Sound Devices MixPre series of recorders. Our latest courses cover Sound for Live Streaming with the ATEM Mini and an Intro to Izotope RX. See our school website for more info!
